We come to the end of the Gibb River Road, staying at the biggest station-resort in the Kimberley: El Questro.

The road to El Questro at the end of the Gibb River Road. Yes, bitumen!

We passed through Ellenbrae, another station with camping, accommodation and eating, famous for their scones. They were worth the short detour, as was the mango frappe from local mangoes.

Stopped to help a young couple change their tyre just out of Ellenbrae. The picture shows how brutal the road can be on tyres and why I wanted to carry two spares; no puncture repair kit in the world is going to fix this problem.
El Questro is another large station but very geared for tourists. We decided to live it up here and are staying in a nice self-contained riverside cabin. Have booked some tours for tomorrow and dinner at the Steakhouse on the Pentecost river, which we crossed coming in. Many of the tourist sites here are closed due to damage from the previous wet season but we are only here for two nights, so there is plenty for us to see before we head out.
Walked out to Amalia Gorge today but only got as far as the Ochre Falls and had a swim there. Walk was very difficult after that and we didn’t have the shoes for it.
| Hike got a bit technical after this, so we just swam here |
