Day 54: Karumba to Burke and Wills Roadhouse, 270km

I once caught a fish this big:

Then I gutted it, filleted it, pan fried it in olive oil and served it with lime, salt and pepper, and it tasted great.

Michele also caught a fish - this big:

Had to throw this one back: 480mm and limit was 500mm

Actually, she caught more and bigger fish than me. We ended up giving some away (to some strange old guy who took everyone's extra fish and walked away with about 8 school mackerel) and only kept two mackerel for ourselves. Only got through one tonight, so will have the other one tomorrow night.

Then packed up camp and headed for Burke and Wills Roadhouse, now heading south on our way to Winton and Longreach. We have now left the Savannah Way and are on the Matilda Way, which runs from Karumba to Bourke.

Crack!

Forgot to tell you that the new windscreen cracked yesterday! This one is a different brand (Australian Autoglass) but we got hit by a big stone from a LandCruiser towing a bloody great caravan. Fortunately, I had a repair kit ready and repaired it straight away and completely repaired it so you can't see it anymore. So I guess it doesn't need replacing.

Met a guy who was asking about the Defender, then revealed that he had one as well. As usual he had the full size model and the big diesel engine (towing a caravan) and he was very happy with it. I think there are people out there who just love them, and they are all a little odd. But that's not me, right?

Here's another pic from last night
